Completely agreed! The Kuala Lumpur one makes me wonder if that city might be single-handedly causing global warming. Though it might be fun to ride the monorail to the night market.

The Venice one makes me want to move there.

And thanks! For the warm fuzzy. I just published a couple of really really really long posts, which I hope will help make up for some of the lack of frequency.

It's interesting - the Venice one makes me want to take a vacation there. The Kuala Lumpur had the exact opposite reaction, despite the better music pairing/timing with the visuals.
If downtime means you post more (without injury), all to the good.

It all makes sense now! Amazing that the BBC got something right which is not located in Cardiff. Because daleks can only traverse smooth surfaces (ok I know there was an episode where they had little rockets to go up some stairs but...) they plotted to have roads cover all available space. What a bunch of jerks.

They truely were/are the most evil garbage bins in all of space and time.

Maybe we could repurpose some daleks as actual garbage bins in public spaces, than they might help to activate some areas for a change. Not sure that the skaters could deal with those bumpy things but delek husks would still make great street furniture in London, Manhatten, or anywhere.

Very well written article. This is clearly an issue that needs to be addressed and I hope more members of the community such as yourself will raise these concerns with SFMTA for those of us not as knowledgeable. Here's to hoping for a light rail or subway line down Geary one day!

Ha. And a chicken coop bicycle tour too! How delightfully awkward. I'm sorry I missed it. Years ago, I went on a few of my own self-guided tours of the Bay Farm Island bird sanctuary. It's one of my favorite places in the Bay Area to ride.

Oh my objections to boond*ggle are purely emotional and not at all related to its appropriateness or its actual overuse by any objective measure. For me it has just a hint of that listening-to-the-golfing-for-Jesus-audio-series vibe, which just makes it all the more applicable to a number of protracted and endlessly detoured city planning projects and studies, past and present (but usually both). In fact, at an SFMTA meeting I attended today, I was shocked that the word wasn't used even once by a particular board member who was especially disenchanted with the fact the Geary BRT project appears to have made little-to-no progress in the last 8 years, and this after BRT was touted and promoted for being oh so much quicker, easier, and cheaper to implement than rail. If I weren't handicapped by such an inexplicable and visceral reaction to the word, I'd perhaps have used it myself during the public comment period.
